Pet foods and Pet HealthThis month, our resident Animal Nutritionist, Jon Woodroofe, begins a new series on ‘Pet foods and Pet Health’…. ![]() Selecting a healthy diet for our pets can be challenging. Many of us tend to look for the individual ingredients on product labels that are regarded as beneficial. For instance, we may select a pet food that is advertised as being high in Omega 3 fatty acids, or that contains Kelp, or other such ‘healthy’ ingredients. Although these ingredients may well be a healthy choice, the presence of a particular ingredient does not guarantee that a food is the best choice for your pet. This article aims to encourage you to take a more holistic approach to choosing a diet for your pet. Click here to read more. Your Queries Answered! If you have a query that you would like answered, email us or go to our contact page on the 4Legs website. Q. Hello, we have an 11 week old pug puppy - is he too young for 4Legs? ![]() We usually recommend that a diet specially formulated for puppies is fed until young dogs reach about 70% of their expected adult weight. At this point a good quality adult dog food, such as 4legs, can be introduced. Ideally the changeover from puppy food to adult food should take place gradually over a two to four week period. Small breeds, such as pugs, generally reach 70% of adult body weight at around twenty to twenty five weeks of age. With larger breeds it usually takes longer to reach this point. For example, it can take medium to large sized breeds thirty to forty weeks or more to reach this stage. You can find out more about 4Legs products by visiting our Dog Food and Cat Food pages on the 4Legs website. If you have another query that you would like answered, email us at contact@4legs.com.au or go to our contact us page on the 4Legs website. Did you know?
